Just Go For a Walk!

The other day I felt like walking to class. Sure the walk from my apartment to college is 15-20 minutes away, I just felt like it. I think I made a good decision too, not putting my headphones in and just observing the world. Kono sekai ha sugoi desune? This world is amazing isn’t it? People are just so interesting. Of course on any other day depending on my mood I could be ranting why people are so inherently evil but this day was different.
As I walked I did the male trademark “nod” to some guy walking by, I said hello to a rumbly old man, heard two teens walking by say “damn that shit looks good” in reference to my bagel, and just enjoyed the weather. It was nice and is the reason I like to go on walks to begin with. When I bike or drive somewhere I zone out and only focus on the road so I never notice anything. Even if I walk with headphones I still kind of zone out when walking. The point being if you ever feel the urge, just go for a walk because you will notice something new every time and might just gain a new appreciation for the environment around you that you might take for granted.

3 Quick tips on how to market to me

Marketing Strategy

In this piece I will be talking about what strategies to use to get me interested in a product or company.

1. They let me come to them. This is one of the most important things a company can do for me to hold them in high esteem. Once the first pop up or extremely obnoxious sidebar ad comes on when I go on a website I immediately generate a bias against that company. Now that I have Adblock though I don’t need to worry about that.

2. Nothing looks better than a company that interacts with it’s customer base. Whenever I see a company representative addressing a concern that a customer complains or inquires about it gives off the impression they actually care. It seems like companies tend to usually ignore and not care about unsatisfied or curious customers. Some don’t even reply when you send them emails! Sure they are busy I get that, but if you can take the time to monitor your social media platforms then I will definitely feel safe purchasing from you.

3. They provide the information I need to feel confident in buying their product. This is the essence of content marketing. When a company provides me with thorough information for the product I’m buying I am a happy camper.

That’s it for now I just wanted to do a quick little excerpt on marketing so I hope you got something out of it! If you want to share what you think makes for good marketing just leave a comment below!

What is your favorite drink?

cocktails3

I’m not going to lie, I enjoy making cocktails for people. There’s no more fun to be had than being comfortably tipsy with good company enjoying drinks that you whip up for them. Most of the time I improvise with whatever juice, mixers, fruit, and alcohol I have at my disposal (which isn’t much) and hope for the best while taking sips in between to regulate. I tend to typically use lemonade to make citrus-ey cocktails but sometimes I go a sweet route. I had one recent invention I made up for my 21st birthday party which disappeared before everyone could even show up so I guess it was a success. (I’ll put the recipe below)

Anyways, the purpose of this post is to gather feedback from anyone on what your favorite drink is! I have to say mine is the slightly augmented Adios Motherf***er. Recipe for that usually being 1oz Gin 1oz Vodka 1oz Silver Tequila 1oz Light Rum 1.5oz Blue Curacao 1.5oz Sweet & Sour and like 3-4oz of Sprite. Sometimes I even put Everclear in it to make it more potent and still somehow tasty. But I want to try making  a wider variety of drinks that people actually suggest and love! So leave your feedback in the comments and we’ll see which drinks are the most popular!

The recipe I made fit into slightly less than a 1 gallon container and consisted of Red Bull, a Vodgin infusion, some Sprite, lemons, and raspberry lemonade. For the Vodgin infusion which made up about a third of the mixture I infused raspberrys, cut up lemons, and cut up strawberries for a day in a hybrid alcohol of half gin half vodka, and left the lemons in slightly longer. End Result being:

  • 1/3 Vodgin Infusion
  • 1/3 Raspberry Lemonade
  • 1/3 Sprite
  • 1 Small can of Red Bull
  • Cut up lemons to make it pretty

Titanfall is coming soon!

Titanfall

I didn’t even hear about Titanfall until the beta came out like a month ago and my friend told me “dude you’ve got to try this game! Here have a beta key” Of course upon being given a beta key for the game (realized later it was free for everyone on an Xbox One anyway) I had to play it. So here is my initial analysis of this game:

The introduction to the game is awesome. It is like a fps tutoring portal style level system in which each level introduces a new skill you have and then requires you to put it to use at the end. It not only just teaches you how to play the game in a cool way rather than giving little hints at the bottom of loading screens, it also makes you feel good about yourself. There was a moment where it teaches you how to shoot (I know how to shoot I’m a fps veteran) and when I only used one mag to take down all of the dummies in the range the computer voice said something along the lines of “You only needed one mag to complete this task, your marksman skills have been noted”. Damn. That made me feel proud.

In the actual multiplayer Titanfall incorporates something that I have never experienced before in a multiplayer match: bots. It mixes in a couple different difficulty leveled bots so that no matter what you get some kills. In a game of Call of Duty sometimes you may just be having a bad game and end up getting minimal kills as the coordinated enemy team figuratively mounts you from behind and has their way with you. In Titanfall even if that happens you still get the satisfaction from killing enemy bots! Additionally, in order to get a Titan to play in all you have to do is stay in the game for 3 minutes. Each kill and any damage to the enemy reduces the time it takes so no matter what each game you get to play as a titan. Overall each match always ends feeling somewhat fair.

Speaking of the end of the match, no matter if you win or lose the ending can be epic. You either try to find all the enemy pilots and kill them before they can escape or if you are on the losing team, you have to make it to the evac ship and fend off the winning team. 80% of the time if you make it to the evac ship it will take off and after a second you find yourself calmly drifting in space! It’s like okay I lost but that was freakin epic!

That’s all I got for now on Titanfall. I will be able to provide more detail after I get the full game on March 11th and play it through.
